IFY is based in West Chester, PA and is a recognized provider to those in Chester, Delaware and Montgomery Counties. We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for adults with intellectual and developmental differences through personalized, flexible support services. We proudly serve individuals living independently, with their families and in residential homes, tailoring our approach to meet each person’s unique needs and goals. We coach individuals in developing essential life skills, securing and maintaining meaningful employment, expanding their social networks and actively engaging in their local communities. By providing individualized tools, guidance and opportunities, we empower those we serve to build fulfilling lives, strengthen their sense of belonging and thrive within their communities.

Our Support Services

Home & Community Support (IHCS/CS)

In-home and community-based services (IHCS/CS) help clients develop and maintain skills for meaningful, independent lives. These services focus on improving personal independence and community participation in a way that is significant to each client. A person-centered approach from referral to service delivery supports each client's physical, cognitive, psychological and emotional well-being. Services include daily living activities - such as personal hygiene, meal planning, and budgeting - wellness programs, social circle expansion and hobby promotion.

Community Participation Support

Community Participation Support is intended to support a community life, secondary to employment, as a primary goal. CPS offers opportunities for clients to integrate themselves into their local communities, while also providing options for goal-oriented activities. Community experiences provide clients with a sense of purpose and inclusion and allows for the discovery of volunteer and employment options.

Systematic Skill Building

Systematic Skill Building (SSB) is a service designed to support clients in developing functional skills that promote their participation, independence, and safety - both in their homes and in the greater community. SSB draws on techniques used in Occupational Therapy (OT) practice and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy. These techniques help clients to acquire and enhance their abilities related to communication, socialization, community participation, vocational roles and independent living in order to improve overall quality of life.

Job Services

Job services aim to support clients in both obtaining and maintaining competitive integrated employment in an inclusive community setting. There are a variety of services available - career/vocational assessment, job finding and/or development, job coaching/support, extended employment supports - to meet each client's unique interests, needs, skills, and goals. These services are vital to the mission and vision of Independence Fitz You and are focused on ODP's policies, principles, and practices. IFY supports clients in the discovery and maintenance of employment opportunities that specifically enhance each individual's strengths.

Behavior Services

Behavior services provide support to individuals who demonstrate behaviors that create obstacles and hinder opportunities. With the help of our Licensed Behavioral Specialist (LBS), clients use an individualized, comprehensive plan - which supports them, their families and their staff - in reducing and managing these challenging behaviors. With the use of positive behavior strategies, clients are better prepared to advance their overall independence in the areas of communication, socialization, active community involvement, and functional life skills.

In-Home Respite Services

Our respite services are provided for the supervision and support of clients living in private homes on a short-term basis. This grants the clients’ normal care provider(s) a period of vital relief, be it planned or for emergency situations. Independence Fitz You will give utmost attention to the continuation of the clients’ daily lives - maintaining their routines, fostering participation in their local communities and consistently implementing the Individual Support Plans, Behavior Support Plans, and/or Crisis Intervention Plans, as applicable.
